OLAM by Plasseril: a slow place needs a slow reel
Smartz made three 20-second Instagram reels for OLAM, a homestay on Munroe Island in Kerala. There were photos of the house but none of the backwaters, so we told that part in ink wash and shadow puppet, and used the real photos for the house itself.
The brief
OLAM’s appeal is quiet. Loud cuts, hard-sell text and “book now” would have worked against it, so its rules were strict: slow camera moves, no shouting, and one calm line at the end asking guests to share their dates on WhatsApp.
The honest constraint
The canal, the canoe and the lake did not exist as photographs. Rather than generate fake “real” footage of a place guests will visit, we made those scenes clearly illustrated. Anything that looks like a photo of the house is a photo of the house.
What we delivered
- Three vertical reels, 1080×1920, for Instagram, YouTube Shorts and Facebook
- Original score and sound for each film
- Captions, hashtags, alt text and a suggested cover frame for every reel
- WhatsApp status lines for the owners to share directly
